

On August 3, Kane was taken back to the hospital to undergo her second open heart surgery the following week, but because she was ill, the surgery date was moved sooner. The surgery went well, and family members were able to meet Erin through a window. Erin was in surgery for nearly eight hours. She recalls it being the loneliest walk and longest day.
